Shanti Sarovar Resort is located at Jawhar. Jawhar itself is a quaint little hill station located in Palghar district. Jawhar is located at a distance of 110 km from Mumbai, 80 km from Nashik and 90 km from Silvassa. If you are heading from Nashik head towards Didgaon -  Trimbak on Nashik Jawhar road. From here you can head further to Poshera - Chandrapur - Jawhar.

Recently I came across a place which left me spell-bounded. The fact is we Mumbaikars are always on a lookout for places that allow us to get closer to nature. The town of Palghar is about 87 km from Mumbai. With places like Kelve Fort, Kelve Beach, Mahim Fort and Waghoba Waterfall, Palghar is one of the well known one day picnic spots for Mumbaikars. The drive to Palghar is pleasant and enjoyable. Additionally there are many resorts in and near Palghar which offer picnic-goers respite from the hectic life of the city. About Anjarle Beach

This temple is a well known religious destination among devotees who flock in to seek blessings of the rare Ganesh idol with its trunk towards right(Ujwya sondecha ganpati). This beautiful temple of Lord Ganesh has stony stairs that take you to the temple which is perched on a rocky hill overlooking the spectacular Anjarle Beach stretch.

Kadyavarcha Ganpati - The Kadyavarcha Ganpati is a popular temple and is flocked by pilgrims throughout the year. The rare 'Ujwya sondecha Ganpati' is said to be a 'jagrut daivat'. The temple is old and said to be constructed in 1150. There are rocky stairs to reach the temple and is settled on a rocky cliff which overlooks the beautiful Anjarle Beach, the Suvarnadurg Fort and the hilly terrain. There is also a beautiful pond in front of the temple where one gets to feed the fishes and turtles. There is a small Shiva temple beside the Ganesh temple.

Mahalaxmi Temple - About 10 km from Anjarle Beach is Mahalaxmi Temple in Kelshi. This temple is said to be built during the Peshwa regime.


Ade Beach - Ade Beach is also one of the pristine, unexplored beaches of Konkan located about 5 km from Anjarle.


Suvarnadurga Fort - About 20 minutes from Anjarle Beach is Suvarnadurga Fort. This fort was built by the Shivaji Maharaj in 1660 and was used for defense purposes. There is a boat or ferry service from Harnai Bunder. The ferry costs around INR 1000 for 5 adults and takes you to the small beach where the fort stands tall. The entrance of the fort is grand, massive and there are lakes, chor darwaja and few temple ruins that we get to see. The fort offers a captivating view of the sea and the surrounding areas.

Anjarle Beach is located 20 km from Dapoli. Dapoli is about 235 km from Mumbai and well connected by motorable roads. Moreover there are many MSRTC buses and private cars that ply from Mumbai to Dapoli. Once you reach Dapoli you have numerous options to continue your journey to Anjarle Beach. Apart from ST buses, one can hire private taxis and auto-rickshaws to reach Anjarle beach. Many ST buses ply regularly to Anjarle Beach  at about a frequency of 30 minutes. By car the route to travel Anjarle Beach from Mumbai is Mumbai - Panvel - Nagothane - Mangaon - Mandangad - Kadivali - Anjarle. How to Reach Govardhan Eco Village near Mumbai

If you reside in Mumbai, then you head north on Western Express Highway, pass two tolls, one at Mira Road and another at Virar. Take a right turn at 'Ten Naka' which is around 28 km from Virar. Some landmarks that you would pass on the way include Hotel Decent and Hotel Vegas before reaching Ten Naka. Remember that Govardhan Eco Village is not located in Wada but in Galtare. Once you take the right off Ten Naka, you pass Hotel Taj Inn and then take right under the bridge into Ten Naka. Travel from here another 3 km on Manor Road and take a right turn at Hamrapur Phata. You will find Govardhan Eco Village signboard at the entrance of this road. There is a metal arch on the entrance of this road. From here you drive down the 7 km narrow winding road to reach Galtare. This is where Govardhan Eco Village is located.

About Mount Kalsubai 

Located in the Western Ghats, Kalsubai is a famous trekking destination in Maharashtra. About Harishchandragad

Other than a fantastic trekking opportunity, Harishchandragad has lot of historical importance to boast about. Located 50 km from Bhandardhara, Harishchandragad is one of the famous hill forts located in the Ahmednagar districts. Thus it is part of the hill forts within the Western Ghats. This fort was ruled by Moguls until 1747 after which the Marathas captured it. The caves within the Harishchandragad find their mentions in ancient scripts and Puranas. It is said that during the 14th century, Maharshi Changdev resided in one of these caves and used it as a place for meditation. More and more caves could be found within this hill fort which claim to be carved out in the 11th Century AD. The fort gets the name due to the presence of Harishchandreshwar Temple within.  This temple finds it's place in one of the holy places visited by Hindus. Towards the east side of this temple is a beautiful lake named Saptathirtha Lake. Other than this temple, there are many temples such as Nageshwar Temple, Kedareshwar Temple and caves within the hill fort of Harishchandragad that depict intricate carvings found in the Medieval Period. The highest peak of Harishchandragad is Taramati. Taramati Peak offers scenic view of the surrounding expanse and one can see Kalsubai,  Malshej Ghat, Ratangad, Jivdan and Naneghat from here. The route timing is roughly three hours and one passes through rocky patches, small hills and streams in between. Other than Khireshwar, one can also trek to Harishchandragad from Paachnai Village which is about 48 km from Bhandardara. This is one of the most scenic trek and the difficulty level of this trek is easy to medium with forest path, rocky patches and steep climbs. This trek from Paachnai Village is considered to be the best for beginners. The third base village to Harishchandragad is Walhivale Village from where you can carry on trek through Nalichi Vaat. This trek leads you to Konkan Kada and is considered one of the trickiest climb. The difficulty level of this trek is medium to difficult and one needs safety gear such as ropes for the trek as there are steep climbs and rocky patches all throughout.
