About Anjarle Beach 


Wishing to travel a beach escapade this monsoon, head on to one of the finest, unspoiled beaches in Maharashtra - The Anjarle Beach. Located 26 km from Dapoli, Anjarle Beach is one of the exquisite beaches on the Konkan coast. With fine sand, unspoiled, clear and pristine waters, unpolluted environs and tranquility; Anjarle has all to offer. Anjarle Beach is one of the untouched and non-commercialized(yet) beach which is located in the Anjarle Village. Anjarle Village itself is a beautiful, quaint, tiny hamlet which camouflages itself in the wide stretches of palm trees and betel-nut trees, seeming like a lost village. The outstretch of the Anjarle Beach comes as a surprise once you pass through the quaint town and expose yourself to the beach.

The long wide stretch of Anjarle Beach is scenic and panoramic. It's beauty is beyond words and hence serves as an ideal weekend destination. Anjarle Beach has a cosy feeling to it, with much more peacefulness and privacy it could offer. Moreover during the months from January to April one gets to see small baby Olive Ridley turtles hatching and crawling towards the sea. The crystal clear beach, panoramic surroundings, the dense background of palm trees, the crisscross narrow roads through village with cashew tree, coconut tree or palm tree around, the beautiful turtles, the hill view around the water is more than one can expect from such an less-known or un-famous beach. There is a small port that is popular among tourist which is located near the mouth of the Jog River.

What adds fine colors to the existing panoramic beauty is the temple on the rock cliff, popularly known as the 'Kadyavarcha Ganpati'. This temple is a well known religious destination among devotees who flock in to seek blessings of the rare Ganesh idol with its trunk towards right(Ujwya sondecha ganpati). This beautiful temple of Lord Ganesh has stony stairs that take you to the temple which is perched on a rocky hill overlooking the spectacular Anjarle Beach stretch.





Places of Interest near Anjarle Beach


Kadyavarcha Ganpati - The Kadyavarcha Ganpati is a popular temple and is flocked by pilgrims throughout the year. The rare 'Ujwya sondecha Ganpati' is said to be a 'jagrut daivat'. The temple is old and said to be constructed in 1150. There are rocky stairs to reach the temple and is settled on a rocky cliff which overlooks the beautiful Anjarle Beach, the Suvarnadurg Fort and the hilly terrain. There is also a beautiful pond in front of the temple where one gets to feed the fishes and turtles. There is a small Shiva temple beside the Ganesh temple.







Mahalaxmi Temple - About 10 km from Anjarle Beach is Mahalaxmi Temple in Kelshi. This temple is said to be built during the Peshwa regime.


Ade Beach - Ade Beach is also one of the pristine, unexplored beaches of Konkan located about 5 km from Anjarle.


Suvarnadurga Fort - About 20 minutes from Anjarle Beach is Suvarnadurga Fort. This fort was built by the Shivaji Maharaj in 1660 and was used for defense purposes. There is a boat or ferry service from Harnai Bunder. The ferry costs around INR 1000 for 5 adults and takes you to the small beach where the fort stands tall. The entrance of the fort is grand, massive and there are lakes, chor darwaja and few temple ruins that we get to see. The fort offers a captivating view of the sea and the surrounding areas.




How to Reach Anjarle Beach



Anjarle Beach is located 20 km from Dapoli. Dapoli is about 235 km from Mumbai and well connected by motorable roads. Moreover there are many MSRTC buses and private cars that ply from Mumbai to Dapoli. Once you reach Dapoli you have numerous options to continue your journey to Anjarle Beach. Apart from ST buses, one can hire private taxis and auto-rickshaws to reach Anjarle beach. Many ST buses ply regularly to Anjarle Beach  at about a frequency of 30 minutes. By car the route to travel Anjarle Beach from Mumbai is Mumbai - Panvel - Nagothane - Mangaon - Mandangad - Kadivali - Anjarle. One who travel from Pune can can take three different routes to reach Anjarle - one via Tamhini ghat, second via Mahabaleshwar and third via Bhor. The best route from Pune to Anjarle Beach by car is Pune - Mulshi - Nive - Tamhini - Nizampur - Mangaon - Mandangad - Kadivali - Anjarle. The nearest station for Anjarle Beach is Khed. From Khed one can easily hire state transport buses to Dapoli or you can also hire private taxis or rickshaws to Anjarle beach itself.

  2. This beach is very nice specially during the turtle season. Clean and good beach. But not many hotels to eat food nearby.

    1. Yes, being a quaint hamlet, Anjarle Town doesn't have much to offer when it comes to food. But that is what I guess has left this place unspoiled and unpolluted - it being non-commercialized and all. Still there are few places where one can eat. For instance the Ketki Beach Resort is applauded for its non-vegetarian fare. There are vegetarian bhojnalayas nearby for vegetarian food, as Anjarle is more of a religious place.
