About Saputara Hill Station in Gujarat

With the heat that one can always define Gujarat is all about, Saputara is an exception to it. Located on the height of 875 meters within the Dang Forest amidst Sahyadri Mountains, this place serves as an great escapade for tourists who wish to enjoy some amazing climate amidst lush green environs. Best of all the nature seems to have done some great magic with this place, with lots of greenery everywhere, mountains, waterfalls, and landscapes; Saputara has got all. Most of all one can definitely find this place relaxing and soothing as it pleasing mostly throughout the year, though I prefer monsoons for Saputara. During monsoons, nature seems to return to life in Saputara, with splashing waterfalls within the Sahyadri ranges, dense greenery everywhere and much more to enjoy. The climate overall gets very meditative making your visit unforgettable. Saputara derives its name from the Snake Idol that is found on the banks of River Sarpagana. This idol holds great importance for the local Adivasis nearby and hence the name Saputara, which means Serpent's Abode.

What to eat in Saputara

In Saputara, one can enjoy authentic Gujarati Thali. Most of hotels and resorts in Saputara serve Gujarati Thali. For die-hard non-vegetarians like me who can't enjoy vegetarian foods for more than one day :D try out the food joints near the market, where you can ask those food joints to cook some lovely Chicken, fish and mutton for you and send it to your hotel room. Problem solved! There are couple of food joints in the main market area which serve non-vegetarian starters as well as main course.

What to shop in Saputara

Though there is nothing much to shop in Sapuatara, yet one can find couple of cottage and handicraft shops where you get to buy some local artifacts and souvenirs to take back home as a remembrance. Do bargain though!
