About Aurangabad:

Aurangabad is a famous city located within the Aurangabad District of Maharashtra. It also serves as a famous tourist spot among people travelling from India as well abroad. The reason behind this is the existence of some exclusive tourist spot within the city including the famous Ghrishneshwar Mandir, Bibi Ka Maqbara, Daulatabad Fort and so on. In fact Aurangabad is one such city which has the the well famous World Heritage Sites Ajanta Caves and Ellora Caves.

Aurangabad was named so after the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, as it was primarily under the administration of Moghuls. The various constructions and areas are still seen influenced with Mughal Architecture.

Aurangabad has extreme climatic conditions and hence it is very hot during summers and very cold during winters. The ideal time to visit Aurangabad is from October to early March, as summers are too harsh and hot.

Panchakki: Panchakki which means a water mill is a best attraction that one can visit in Aurangabad. This watermill was said to be built in the 18th Century and is one of the best underground water channel which indirectly suppliers power to the chakki, i.e the mill. The most exciting part of visiting this Panchakki is the presence of huge fresh water fishes within the water. One gets to feed the fishes and enjoy the fight that the fishes have in between them to eat the food. Definitely visit Panchakki!

Bibi Ka Maqbara: A perfect replica of Taj Mahal, Bibi Ka Maqbara is one of the best tourist attractions of Aurangabad. Located on the outskirts of the city, Bibi Ka Maqbara is a ancient mausoleum constructed in 1651 by Prince Azam Shah. Its advisable to visit Bibi Ka Maqbara in Full moon to watch its beauty!

Aurangabad Gates: Wondering why Aurangabad is referred as the City of Gates? well only for the 52 gates which are present all around Aurangabad, constructed during the Moghul Period. These gates are landmarks of Aurangabad and have a strong historical feel to it.

Ellora Caves: This world famous World heritage Site is the prime attractions of Aurangabad. Ellora Caves are at its best during monsoons , as they are built within a mountain cliff amidst scenic beauty. This 5th Century AD Buddhist caves are must visit point in Aurangabad.

Ajanta Caves: This one too a world heritage site serves as a major attraction for tourists. This world famous Buddhist Caves are prime attraction of Aurangabad and are located pretty closer to the city as compared to Ellora Caves.

Mhaismal: Mhaismal serves as a beautiful location known and popular for its scenic beauty. Located around 25 km from Aurangabad, Mhaismal serves as an ideal picnic spot with beautiful scenic surroundings, small but beautiful lake, Balaji Tempple and scenic view of the deep valleys nearby.
